The library hosts the fifth annual Cowboy Poetry Contest, open to local children and teens

The Santa Maria Public Library is currently accepting submissions for its fifth annual Cowboy Poetry Contest, which is open to local students in grades K-12. Participants are invited to write original poems about cowboys or cowgirls and their daily lives. (applicants are allowed to submit more than one application).

The deadline to enter this local contest, sponsored by the Santa Maria Public Library Foundation, is Monday, August 23. Prizes will be presented to contest winners at an awards ceremony at the Santa Maria Public Library on Saturday, August 28. at 2 o’clock in the afternoon
Cowboy Poetry Contest entry forms can be found online at cityofsantamaria.org/library or printed and picked up at the Santa Maria Public Library, located at 421 S. McClelland St., Santa Maria. Each poem entry requires its own entry form (one form per entry, not per author).
