The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has announced the launch of a new poetry competition “Award for the Poet of Al Safinat Horse” to be held on the sidelines of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIHAF) 2023.
Katara announced the opening of entry for the poetry contest yesterday on his Twitter account inviting entries for the “Al Safinat Horse Poet Prize”.
According to the conditions set by Katara, the poetry for the prize will only be in classical nabati poetry on Arabian horseback while contestants can participate in the prize from Qatar and abroad. “The poem should be between 10 and 15 stanzas and the deadline for submitting the application is December 31, 2022.”
Applicants can apply for the Award via the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival website www.kiahf.qa.
The mission of the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival is to support Qatar’s rich equestrian heritage and promote it worldwide. It is organized by the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club and the Qatar Equestrian Federation to promote the uniqueness of purebred Arabian horses on the various local, regional and international platforms by organizing an exhibition of titles of magnificent Arabs.
The festival promotes Qatar, which is a pioneer in the breeding of purebred Arabians, as a world-class hub for horses and equestrian sports; strengthen the position of Qatar in this discipline. It also reinforces the owners’ confidence and pride by offering them the opportunity to participate in the various prestigious Arab horse shows organized. It champions the culture of “modernization and originality” in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
This festival plays a key role in encouraging owners of purebred Arabians in Qatar. This inspires them to improve their breeding programs and cultivate the beauty of the breed.
Owners are also encouraged to provide their horses with the optimal environment and training necessary to ensure their well-being.
The various activities associated with the KIAHF include: Auction of horses participating in the Title Show; exhibition – equine postage stamps; painting – saddle art; cubic painting; 3D floor painting; carving art; exhibition of books on horses; exhibition: equine photography; drinking; parade of horses, etc.
It should be noted that the Fondation du Village Culturel – Katara will also host the 2023 and 2025 editions of the World Arabian Horse Championships (WAHC) and this will be the first time in 40 years that the WAHC will be organized outside France.
A strategic partnership agreement for the event had been signed by Prof. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Managing Director of Katara, and Jean-Luc Poulain, President, Center National des Expositions et Concours Agricoles (Ceneca) during the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF 2022) in February this year.
